Ministry Descriptions
Assembly / Greeters & Worship John Bell / Evan Powers / L. Patterson II Purpose: To give all visitors a warm welcome in our foyer, halls, and parking lots. Co-ordinates the ushers, and provides hall monitors for the bible classes. Monitors the atmosphere and temperature controls in worship.
Benevolence & Homeless Norval Young / Leroy Mobley / B. Smith Purpose: To provide food, clothing, bedding, furniture, household goods, and financial assistance to the needy. Follow-up for Bible classes is extended to all individuals helped through our benevolence ministry.
Bus Roy Thompson / Bengie Smith / H. Brown Purpose: The bus ministry coordinates the total transportation program of the church. Members and visitors living within a five mile radius of the church building are picked up for church functions.
Calling / Delinquents Terry Bradley / Michael Milton / C. Doyle Purpose: To call all members of the church on a quarterly basis. The calling ministry plays a vital roll in keeping church membership records accurate.
Critical Needs Jarrett Williams / Adiaha Franklin / A. Washington Purpose: To minister to the needs of critical care patients, care givers, and special needs families in the congregation.
College Stephen Henley / Brad Whiting / H. Brown Purpose: To encourage college students to remain faithful to God as they pursue their educational goals. To organize activities that encourage students spiritual development and involvement in the Lord’s work.
Couples Gary Smith / Harvey White / O. Phillips Purpose: To encourage married couples to remain faithful to their vows and the Lord. Retreats, workshops, bible classes and fellowships are used to strengthen the marriage relationship.
Education Ben Wilson / Ed Redeaux / Brad Whiting / R. Adams Sr. Purpose: To establish the curriculum and teaching staff for all bible classes. To plan and organize Vacation Bible School, teachers meetings, workshops, and related educational programs. Provide resources, materials and teaching aids for the bible class teaching staff.
Employment Arthur Williams / Victor Frazier / L. Mobley Purpose: Assists members in locating employment. Posts job openings and conducts a yearly "how to" workshop on employment.
Evangelism Robert Adams Sr. / Gibson, Curtis, Shelby, Nolan, Diggs, Lamott Purpose: The evangelism ministry serves to organize and motivate the church to spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The evangelism ministry coordinates our bible correspondence courses, home bible studies, and non-member classes.
Facility Management Douglas Jefferson / Curtis Doyle / L. Patterson Purpose: To manage all buildings and grounds maintenance and repair. To coordinate effective security personnel for all church events.
Family Life Center Harvey White / Tim Jones / C. Doyle Purpose: To coordinate the use and calendar of events for the Family Life Center building. To plan co-ed activities for church fellowships and edification.
Fellowship Frank Barnett / Norval Young / L. Patterson II Purpose: To coordinate food preparation and overall kitchen management of all church fellowships and events.
Finance Henry Johnson / V. Easter / M. Milton / B. Smith, Patterson, Brown Purpose: The Finance ministry is responsible for administrative procedures preparation, monitoring of the budget, financial reports and records which include: counting and depositing of money, signing checks, disbursements, monitoring cash flow, monitoring petty cash, inventory control, tax guidance and insurance planning.
Health, Wellness, First Aid Leroy Mobley / Tim Jones / Cordelia Bevil / L. Mobley Purpose: To minister to the physical and spiritual needs of members through education, motivation, and physical training. To respond to medical emergencies at all church functions.
Hispanic Outreach Gerbi Arguera / Robert Adams Sr. Purpose: To evangelize and minister to the needs of the Hispanic community of Fifth Ward and the surrounding areas.
Home Repair / New Construction Douglas Jefferson / Larry Hamilton / A. Washington Purpose: To assist in minor home repairs of widows and senior citizen members. Senior citizens who do not have family to assist them are given priority. To facilitate and coordinate new construction projects.
Hospital & Nursing Home Visitation AC Draine / Victor Frazier / J. Muckelroy Jr. Purpose: To visit sick and shut-in members at homes, hospitals, and nursing homes. This ministry visits as a group at least once a month.
Vincent Easter / Reginald Brown / O. Phillips Purpose: The information technology ministry plays a vital role in the documentation and organization of church attendance, visitors, church events, finance, church directory, contributions, payroll, and important information. Computers and the latest technology are used to grow and edify the Kingdom of God.
Missions Andrew Washington / Bencil Smith / A. Washington Purpose: To monitor and encourage the outside works that are financially supported by the FWCC. To evaluate the progress of all supported works.
New Member Orientation Phillip Alexander / Barry Gibson / B. Gibson Purpose: To inform and welcome all new members (placed membership & baptisms) to the church. New members are introduced to other members and educated on the available bible classes and ministries to encourage their immediate involvement.
Photography Andray Stroud / Robert Adams Jr. / O. Phillips Purpose: To be responsible for taking and cataloging pictures at all church functions.
Prison / Overcomers Curtis Doyle / Roy Beck Sr. / C. Doyle Purpose: To visit and minister to members and non-members who are incarcerated. To aid in the transition of released members of the body of Christ. Prisons are visited on a monthly basis.
Security Darrell Lamott / Larry Edwards / L. Patterson Purpose: To maintain and oversee security for all church functions and activities.
Seasoned Saints (Senior Members) A.W. Willis / Cleveland b2ceph / J. Muckelroy Purpose: To minister to the spiritual, physical, and social needs of the senior citizen members of the Fifth Ward Church of Christ.
Singles Arthur Williams / B. Smith Purpose: To develop a program for the spiritual development and encouragement of singles.
Sisters Betty Brown / Karen Smith / Verma Draine / L. Patterson Purpose: To minister to the spiritual needs that are unique to women. To create a strong fellowship of sisters who are committed to displaying Godly values.
Sound & Reproduction Darrell Carmouche / Robert Adams Jr. / B. Gibson Purpose: To manage the sound quality and set up for all worship services and programs. This ministry is responsible for recording, storing, and reproduction of all tapes and CDs.
Otis Phillips / Raymond Hooks / O. Phillips Purpose: To lead lost souls to Christ through mass media communication. This ministry is responsible for the television & radio outreaches of the church and is continually seeking effective ways to spread the gospel to the masses.
Website Craig Curtis / William Fortson / G. Smith Purpose: To inform, encourage, and evangelize members and non-members through the use of the World Wide Web. Responsible for maintenance and updating content on our website.
You-Tube David Butler / G. Smith Purpose: To encourage members and non-members through a weekly You-tube video on the church website.
Young Adult Men William Hamilton / b2chua Randall / H. Brown Purpose: To encourage the spiritual growth and maturity of young men ages 25—45.
Youth Ministry / Children’s Bible Hour Dennis Murphy / Randy Shelby / H. Brown Purpose: To provide activities and guidance for the spiritual and social development of our youth. Bible classes, mentoring, work projects, benevolent outreaches, & fellowship activities are some of the ways we equip our youth for ministry. (B.H.) To teach children ages 4 - 12 the principles of God's word on a level that they can understand. To teach children how to worship and the importance of worshiping God.
Zone Shepherding Michael Glover / Larry Hamilton / Evan Powers / L. Mobley Purpose: To communicate to the congregation how the zone program functions and for what purpose. To make sure every member knows what zone they live in. To encourage zone leaders active involvement.
Special Support Ministries:
Church Historian Eddie Hightower / J. Muckelroy Jr. Purpose: To keep an accurate historical record of FWCC activities and events.
Healthy Cooking Aletha Draine / L. Mobley Purpose: To promote healthy living by educating members and non-members through healthy cooking workshops.
Home Cleaning Victor & Faye Mathis / L. Patterson Purpose: To assist incapacitated members in cleaning their homes.
Legal Advice Darrell Jordan / A. Washington Purpose: To educate and give direction to members facing legal issues.
Transportation Harry Decuir / B. Smith Purpose: To coordinate transportation to church services for members and non-members living outside of the bus ministry zone.
Tutoring Ericka Green / H. Brown Purpose: To assist grade level students in homework and test taking skills. |
